Via Ferrata Sass Rigais

The Via Ferrata Sass Rigais is one of the most spectacular summit adventures in the Odle Dolomites and a true classic for mountain lovers visiting Val Gardena. Rising to 3,025 meters in the dramatic Geisler/Odle Group, this guided Dolomites via ferrata combines panoramic hiking terrain, exciting climbing sections and breathtaking alpine scenery into one unforgettable high-mountain experience.

Often considered one of the most beautiful via ferratas in Val Gardena, the route leads through the heart of the iconic Odle mountains, famous for their dramatic jagged peaks and panoramic ridgelines above Seceda and Val di Funes. Unlike extremely steep and athletic ferratas such as Via Ferrata Sci Club 18 or Via Ferrata Piazzetta Piz Boè, the Via Ferrata Sass Rigais focuses more on the complete summit experience and long scenic alpine traverse rather than sustained technical climbing.

The tour usually starts from the Col Raiser area and passes close to Rifugio Firenze / Regensburger Hütte, one of the classic mountain huts in the Odle region. From here, the route climbs steadily toward the summit through alpine hiking terrain, scrambling passages and equipped ferrata sections. The panorama becomes increasingly spectacular with endless views toward the Seceda ridgeline, Val Gardena, Val di Funes, the Sella Group and many of the most iconic peaks of the Dolomites.

One of the highlights of the day is standing on the summit of Sass Rigais, one of the most panoramic mountains in the Odle Dolomites. Depending on conditions and chosen route, the ascent and descent can follow different equipped sections, creating a beautiful summit crossing through varied alpine terrain.

Although technically moderate, the Via Ferrata Sass Rigais is still a long and physically demanding mountain tour requiring good fitness, sure-footedness and a head for heights.
