The Via Ferrata Cascate Fanes is one of the most unique and scenic via ferratas near Cortina d’Ampezzo, combining waterfalls, canyons, suspension bridges and easy ferrata climbing into an unforgettable Dolomites adventure. Located in the spectacular Fanes Gorge within the Natural Park of the Ampezzo Dolomites, this guided via ferrata is perfect for sporty beginners, active families and nature lovers looking for a different kind of ferrata experience.
Unlike classic summit ferratas focused on vertical climbing, the Via Ferrata Cascate Fanes is all about the dramatic canyon environment. The route passes through narrow gorges, beside roaring waterfalls and across exposed bridges while following equipped paths directly inside the canyon. One of the most memorable highlights is walking behind the waterfalls themselves, surrounded by water, rock and incredible natural scenery.
The route combines the equipped paths Giovanni Barbara and Lucio Delaiti, creating a beautiful circular adventure through the canyon system. Technically, the ferrata is relatively accessible and suitable for beginners with good fitness and a basic head for heights. Compared to more exposed alpine routes such as Via Ferrata Lipella or Via Ferrata Olivieri Punta Anna, the atmosphere here is more playful, scenic and nature-focused.
