The Via Ferrata Maximilian is a scenic and panoramic alpine traverse in the Rosengarten Dolomites, perfect for hikers and sporty beginners looking for an authentic mountain adventure with breathtaking views and moderate technical difficulty. Located close to Rifugio Alpe di Tires, this guided via ferrata offers a beautiful combination of exposed ridge terrain, quiet alpine landscapes and spectacular Dolomites scenery.
Unlike steeper and more technical ferratas, the Via Ferrata Maximilian focuses more on movement through wild mountain terrain and panoramic ridge sections than on vertical climbing. The route crosses airy passages and partly unsecured alpine terrain with stunning views toward the Rosengarten, Sciliar, Sassolungo and Alpe di Siusi area.
Thanks to its location near Rifugio Alpe di Tires, the ferrata can be perfectly combined with a rifugio stop, a hut-to-hut hiking tour, or nearby routes such as Via Ferrata Lorenzi al Molignon or Via Ferrata Passo Santner. The atmosphere in this part of the Dolomites is particularly scenic and less crowded than some of the more famous Cortina ferratas.
Technically, the Via Ferrata Maximilian is relatively accessible, but the exposed ridge sections still require good fitness, sure-footedness and a head for heights.
