Punta Cinque Dita Normal Route III+
Ideal beginners' tour for climbers or those who just want to try climbing
are you ready for your adventure in the mountains?
Tour description
The Five Finger Peak (Italian: Punta delle Cinque Dita, Ladin: Piza di Cin Dëic) is a 2,996m high mountain in the South Tyrolean Dolomites. It is located in the Sassolungo group. To the north it is bordered by the Langkofelscharte - with the Toni Demetz Hut - and to the south by the Fünffingerscharte. Further south is the Grohmannspitze. The municipal border between St. Christina and Wolkenstein runs exactly over the Giofel.
The mountain's name comes from its shape. Looking from Sella Pass, looking from left to right, we have the little finger, the ring finger, a middle finger (main peak and highest point), the index finger and the thumb. On the latter there is also the well-known tour of the edge of the thumb. A very aesthetic tour in IV degree UIAA.
The first ascent of the Fünffingerspitze was in 1890 by Johann Santner and Robert Hans Schmitt.
On the Sella Pass we take the gondola lift towards the Langkofelscharte.
detailed description
The tour starts at the Toni Demetz Hut. Here, after a short pit stop, we will put on our climbing harness and climbing helmet. Your local mountain guide from South Tyrol will explain the route and the most important safety measures to you.
The tour is very varied. Climbing passages up to grade III+ UIAA alternate with shorter walking passages. We then reach the thumb notch, where we also meet other climbers who, after climbing the edge of the thumb, abseil from the thumb of the five-finger tip. Beautiful and varied climbing continues up to the middle finger, the main summit.
The descent remains exciting. Abseiling and climbing down, always under the control of your professional mountain guide. The safety of the guest is our top priority.
Back at the Langkofelscharte, the historic gondola lift takes us back to the Sella Pass!
