Strahlhorn 4.190m ski mountaineering tour Valais
Magnificent ski mountain for all fit ski mountaineers
The Strahlhorn is a 4,190m high mountain in the Valais Alps in Switzerland, just a few kilometers from the border with Italy. It is located between the Mischabel group and the Monte Rosa massif. The mountain is the third highest peak in the Allalin group, on the border between Saas-Almagell and Zermatt.
The Stahlhorn is one of the easier 4000m peaks in Switzerland. The normal route leads from the Britannia Hut to the Adler Pass and from there over the WNW ridge to the summit. The perfect ski tour to a 4000m peak for fit ski tourers.
The tour begins in Saas-Fee. From here we climb to the Britannia Hut with the help of a train. We will spend the night here. Beforehand, there will be a material check and a briefing with your mountain guide. After dinner and an overnight stay, we set off early towards the Strahlhorn. We then reach the summit over the wide glacier areas of the Allalin Glacier and past the Adler Pass. Here we enjoy the magnificent view of the Monte Rosa group and the Matterhorn. The descent follows the ascent route. Back at the Britannia Hut we start the descent and the descent to Saas-Fee.
The tour to the Stahlhorn can be started as a day tour from the Metro Alpin middle station until the end of March and as a 2-day tour from the Britannia Hut from April.
