Via Ferrata Fusetti Sass de Stria

The Via Ferrata Sottotenente Fusetti on Sass de Stria is one of the best beginner-friendly via ferratas in the Cortina d’Ampezzo area. Located above Passo Falzarego and Passo Valparola, this guided Dolomites via ferrata combines easy climbing sections, fascinating World War I history, and spectacular panoramic views in one compact alpine adventure.

The route follows historic military terrain around the famous Sass de Stria mountain, also known as Hexenstein. One of the most unique features of the tour is the possibility to approach the ferrata through an old WWI tunnel system carved directly into the mountain. Equipped with a headlamp, you pass through dark galleries and original military positions before continuing onto exposed but accessible ferrata sections leading toward the panoramic summit.

Compared to more demanding routes such as Via Ferrata Lipella or Via Ferrata Olivieri Punta Anna, the Via Ferrata Fusetti is technically easier and ideal for sporty beginners, active families, and hikers looking for their first guided via ferrata experience in the Dolomites.
