Full Description
The Via Ferrata Cesare Piazzetta on Piz Boè is one of the most legendary and demanding via ferratas in the Dolomites. Located in the heart of the Sella Group, this steep and exposed alpine route leads directly to the spectacular 3,152-meter summit of Piz Boè, one of the most iconic peaks in the Dolomites.
Often considered a true challenge among experienced climbers, the Via Ferrata Piazzetta Piz Boè is famous for its sustained vertical terrain, exposed passages and athletic climbing sections. The route begins with a very steep entrance wall before continuing through dramatic alpine terrain high above the Sella massif. This is a serious guided via ferrata Dolomites experience recommended only for very experienced ferrata climbers with excellent fitness, sure-footedness and a strong head for heights.
The tour usually starts in the Passo Pordoi area and passes close to Rifugio Capanna Fassa and Rifugio Boè, two of the most iconic mountain huts in the Sella Group. Throughout the climb, you enjoy breathtaking panoramic views toward Marmolada, Sassolungo, Civetta and many of the major Dolomite peaks.
One of the advantages of this route is the possibility to descend comfortably with the cable car from Passo Pordoi after completing the ferrata and summit ascent, creating a more manageable end to this long and physically demanding alpine day.
Because of its location in the Sella massif, the route can also be combined or compared with other famous Sella Group via ferratas such as Via Ferrata delle Mesules and Via Ferrata Tridentina, both classic Dolomites ferratas located nearby.
Together with a certified IFMGA mountain guide from Dolomagic Guides, you can safely experience one of the most iconic and challenging via ferrata Piz Boè adventures while benefiting from expert route management, local knowledge and maximum safety in high alpine terrain.
