Next, we tackle the Via Ferrata Piccola and Grande Cir, with their breathtaking views of the Odle, Alta Badia, and Sella. The journey continues on the famous Via Ferrata Brigata Tridentina, leading to Rifugio Pisciadù and then across the Sella plateau to Rifugio Boè beneath Piz Boè. Our final day combines the ascent of Piz Boè (3,152 m) with the thrilling Via Ferrata Piz da Lech, before descending by lift to Corvara and returning to Selva Val Gardena. Evenings are spent in traditional rifugios, enjoying authentic Dolomites hospitality.

Detailled Description

🗓️ Day 1: Via Ferrata Furcela de Saslonch - Start in Selva Val Gardena - Rifugio Toni Demetz
↑ 530 m ascent – ↓ 25 m descent – 2.2 km

You meet your mountain guide in Selva Val Gardena for a short equipment check before taking the bus to Passo Sella. From here, a scenic hike leads us to the start of the Via Ferrata Forcella Sassolungo. The route climbs high into the Sassolungo group and ends just above the Forcella del Sassolungo, at around 50 m above the pass. From there, we descend to Rifugio Toni Demetz, beautifully perched at the saddle and famous for its spectacular sunsets. Here we enjoy dinner, alpine atmosphere, and our first overnight stay in the Dolomites.

🗓️ Day 2: Via Ferrata Oskar Schuster - Rifugio Carlo Valentini
↑ 840 m ascent – ↓ 1,320 m descent – 10.4 km

We make an early start from Rifugio Toni Demetz (2,685 m) for a long but rewarding day. The trail first descends to Rifugio Vicenza / Langkofelhütte (2,256 m) beneath the Sassolungo walls. From here we hike up towards the Dente del Sassolungo and reach the start of the Via Ferrata Oskar Schuster, a classic route leading to the summit of Sassopiatto (Plattkofel, 2,969 m) with its wide panoramic views. The descent follows the normal route to the saddle at Rifugio Sasso Piatto (2,300 m), where we also pass Rifugio Sandro Pertini (2,300 m) on the way towards Col Rodella. After a well-deserved mountain hut lunch, we continue to Rifugio Carlo Valentini (2,218 m) near Passo Sella, where we spend the night.

🗓️ Day 3: Via Ferrata Piccola & Grande Cir - Rifugio Frea or Hotel Cir
↑ 675 m ascent – ↓ 210 m descent – 2.8 km

In the morning we take the bus from Passo Sella to Passo Gardena (2,136 m), the starting point for today’s climbs. From here we ascend the Via Ferrata Piccola Cir followed by the Via Ferrata Grande Cir, two short but rewarding routes with spectacular panoramas. From the summits, we enjoy views over the Odle peaks, Alta Badia, the Tofane group, the Sella massif, and the Sassolungo. After this double ferrata adventure, we return to the pass for dinner and our overnight stay at a rifugio or hotel on Passo Gardena.

🗓️ Day 4: Via Ferrata Tridentina, Trip Highlight - Rifugio Boè or Capanna Fassa
↑ 1,040 m ascent – ↓ 300 m descent – 6.7 km

From Passo Gardena we hike to the base of the legendary Via Ferrata Brigata Tridentina, one of the most famous routes in the Dolomites. The climb leads over exposed walls and ladders to the iconic suspension bridge, then continues up to Rifugio Pisciadù (2,587 m) beside its turquoise alpine lake. After a short rest, we continue across the Sella plateau on trails leading to Rifugio Boè (2,871 m). Here we enjoy dinner and our overnight stay beneath Piz Boè (3,152 m), the highest peak of the Sella Group.

🗓️ Day 5: Via Ferrata Piz da Lech - Tour end in Selva Val Gardena
↑ 700 m ascent – ↓ 1,380 m descent – 8.5 km

From Rifugio Boè (2,871 m) we set out in the morning to climb Piz Boè (3,152 m), the highest peak of the Sella Group and one of the most panoramic summits in the Dolomites. After enjoying the views, we descend towards Rifugio Franz Kostner (2,550 m) at Vallon, a welcoming hut known for its excellent food and family atmosphere. From here, a short approach brings us to the start of the Via Ferrata Piz da Lech, a steep and exhilarating climb that leads to another panoramic summit, perfect for a packed-lunch rest at the top. After the descent, we return to the Boè lift and ride down to Corvara, where a bus takes us back to Selva Val Gardena, marking the end of our unforgettable 5-day Central Dolomites Via Ferrata adventure.

Thank you for the great days!!
I actually only wanted to climb the Falzarego Tower with Florian, but since I felt so comfortable and safe with him, I decided to climb the Great Zinne a few days later.
I'm already looking forward to the mountain summer in the Dolomites and one or more tours with Florian.
