Detailled Description

🗓️ Day 1: Via ferrata Roda di Vaèl
↑ 930m ascent – ↓ 730m descent – 7.0km

The adventure begins at Rifugio Costalunga, near the Paolina lift. After a short ride, we reach Rifugio Roda di Vaèl at the foot of the Rosengarten peaks. From here, the climb along the Via Ferrata Roda di Vaèl starts, a classic route that takes us up steep walls and over exposed ledges to the summit. The effort is rewarded with breathtaking panoramas of the Dolomites, some of the most iconic views in the entire region. The descent follows the southern side of the mountain down to Passo del Vajolon, before reaching Rifugio Fronza, where we enjoy dinner, alpine hospitality, and our first overnight stay high in the mountains.

🗓️ Day 2: Via Ferrata Santner
↑ 530m ascent – ↓ 150m descent – 2.2km

We start directly at Rifugio Fronza, where a short technical passage with a steel cable warms us up, though it is still not yet a via ferrata. From here, we traverse beneath the majestic Rosengarten walls, then gear up with harness, helmet, and via ferrata set. The climb along the Via Ferrata Passo Santner begins with some easy scrambling sections without cables, followed by more technical terrain and an exciting passage through a snow couloir. The route leads us to the spectacularly located Rifugio Passo Santner, run by Romina and Michel, where we enjoy alpine hospitality and our second overnight stay high in the Dolomites.

🗓️ Day 3: Via Ferrata Catinaccio d’Antermoia
↑ 530m ascent – ↓ 750m descent – 6.5km

From Rifugio Passo Santner, we descend to Rifugio Re Alberto I and continue via paths to Rifugio Vajolet and Rifugio Preuss in the Vajolet Valley. From there we hike up to Rifugio Passo Principe (Grasleitenpasshütte), the starting point of the via ferrata. The fixed-cable route of Via Ferrata Catinaccio d’Antermoia (Kesselkogel, ca. 3,004 m) takes us up to the summit ridge. After enjoying spectacular views over Lake Antermoia, we descend via the east side into Val d’Antermoia and follow the path down to Rifugio Antermoia for our overnight stay.

🗓️ Day 4: Via Ferrata Laurenzi
↑ 450m ascent – ↓ 500m descent – 4.2km

After enjoying a beautiful sunrise at Rifugio Antermoia, we set off past the shimmering Lake Antermoia. The route soon leads into the Via Ferrata Laurenzi, a spectacular high-level traverse. We first climb to Molignon di Dentro (2,852 m), then continue along the exposed ridge to Molignon di Fuori (2,779 m). From there, we descend toward Passo del Molignon and follow an easier secured trail down into the valley. The day ends with warm hospitality and an overnight stay at the welcoming Rifugio Alpe di Tires.

🗓️ Day 5: Via ferrata Maximilian
↑ 410m ascent – ↓ 1710m descent – 12.1km

Today’s adventure starts right at Rifugio Alpe di Tires, where we can leave some of our luggage behind. We gear up for the Via Ferrata Maximilian, a beautiful and classic loop route that begins and ends at the hut. After completing the ferrata, we descend through Bärenloch (Italian: Buco dell’Orso) into Val di Ciamin (Val Ciamin / Tschamintal), continuing down through Val di Tires. From there, a scenic bus ride brings us back to the starting point, completing a memorable 5-day via ferrata journey in the Dolomites.

I went on tour with Florian both in summer (alpine climbing - Langkofel) and in winter (ice climbing). Excellent mountain guide!! I can only recommend him.

The next tour is already being planned.
