Hiking Around the Sasso Lungo in Val Gardena

Classic hike in Val Gardena around the landmark of Val Gardena

Our guided hike starts on the Sella Pass. This can be easily reached by public transport or by private vehicle. Here you will meet your local mountain guide.
After a short discussion and equipment check, we take the traditional cable car up to the Toni Demetz Hut. This typical mountain lift takes you in small standing gondolas with a capacity of 2 people comfortably to 2,685m to the Sasso Lungo Pass. From here you only go down into the impressive Sasso Lungo cirque. Alpine history was made here when the geographer and mountaineer Paul Grohmann made the first ascent of the Sasso Lungo (3,181m) in 1869.
We continue to the Sasso Lungo Hut, Rifugio Vicenza, where we stop briefly to gain strength.
The hike continues clockwise around the Sasso Lungo. Here we come to Mont de. Sëura, the 1000m high north-east face of the Sasso Lungo and the Rifugio Comici, named after the exceptional climber Emilo Comici.
The route continues flat to the last highlight of the tour, the Stone City. Here we might even see some climbers making their first attempts at climbing the Dolomite rock. We will soon return to the starting point with unforgettable moments.
