Full Description
The Delago Ridge on the Delago Tower (Torre Delago) is one of the most elegant and atmospheric classic climbs in the Dolomites region, rising above the famed Vajolet Towers in the heart of the Bolzano area. This spectacular arête features sustained but manageable climbing on perfect limestone, making it an ideal objective for intermediate climbers seeking an unforgettable day with an experienced mountain guide in the Bolzano area. With its dramatic line and iconic summit, this route is a true masterpiece of Dolomite alpinism.
The Delago Ridge follows an exposed, aesthetic arête with slabs, corners and vertical steps that require secure footwork and confident multi-pitch movement. Although not extremely difficult, the route’s airiness and continuous exposure create a classic alpine atmosphere, offering an exciting but safe challenge when guided. The rock quality throughout the route is outstanding, and the positions — overlooking the soaring Vajolet Towers and the Rosengarten walls — are among the finest in the Dolomites region.
Upon reaching the summit of the Delago Tower, climbers are rewarded with extraordinary 360° views across the Catinaccio, Latemar, Sassolungo and the surrounding high ridges of the Bolzano area. The descent via the normal route is straightforward when guided and completes one of the most satisfying half-day climbs in the region.
For climbers exploring options in the Rosengarten group, our Dolomites Climbing Experience Page offers valuable comparisons of route difficulty, exposure and ideal seasonal conditions. More detailed planning — including equipment tips, neighboring tower routes and alpine safety recommendations — is available in our Complete Climbing & Via Ferrata Guide Dolomites 2026, covering both famous classics and lesser-known lines throughout the Dolomites region.
With its perfect limestone, exposed ridge climbing and legendary setting above the Vajolet Towers, the Delago Ridge is one of the most rewarding classic climbs in the Bolzano area. A must-do for climbers seeking an unforgettable Dolomites climbing experience on one of the region’s most iconic summits.
