Via Ferrata Sci Club 18

The Via Ferrata Sci Club 18 is one of the most athletic and physically demanding via ferratas in Cortina d’Ampezzo. Located on the dramatic cliffs of the Faloria area directly above Cortina, this guided Dolomites via ferrata is perfect for experienced climbers looking for steep vertical terrain, continuous exposure and an intense alpine challenge.

Unlike scenic hiking-style ferratas, the Via Ferrata Sci Club 18 focuses almost entirely on sustained climbing. The route follows steep rock walls with ladders, exposed traverses, vertical passages and highly athletic sections requiring good upper-body strength and solid via ferrata experience. Throughout the climb, you are constantly rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views over Cortina d’Ampezzo, the Tofane, Cristallo, Sorapis and the surrounding Ampezzo Dolomites.

Thanks to the nearby Faloria cable car, the route is very accessible despite its serious character. The approach is usually made via the lift system from Cortina, and after the climb it is also possible to descend comfortably again with the cable car, making logistics easier for this demanding adventure.

Compared to panoramic and more moderate routes such as Via Ferrata Ra Bujela or Via Ferrata Ra Gusela Nuvolau, the Via Ferrata Sci Club 18 is significantly steeper, more sustained and more physical. It is recommended only for experienced ferrata climbers with excellent fitness, sure-footedness and a very solid head for heights.

Because of its central location in Cortina, the route can also be combined with other classic adventures in the area such as Via Ferrata Olivieri Punta Anna or scenic days around the Faloria mountain region.
