Full Description
The Sassolungo Circuit guided hike is one of the great classic hiking tours in the Dolomites and one of the most scenic full-day hikes near Val Gardena. We start at Passo Sella and immediately take the famous historic Forcella Sassolungo lift, a unique standing cable lift that brings us high into the heart of the Sassolungo massif.
From Rifugio Toni Demetz, located directly at the dramatic Forcella Sassolungo, the trail descends into the wild rocky landscape of the Sassolungo range toward Rifugio Vicenza (Langkofelhütte). From here, we continue clockwise around the mountain group on panoramic trails with continuous views of the surrounding Dolomites.
Later in the hike, we pass Rifugio Emilio Comici, where the landscape opens up beautifully toward Val Gardena, the Sella Group and Alpe di Siusi. The final section leads back comfortably to Passo Sella.
