The Hans and Paula Steger Trail is one of the most beautiful panoramic hikes on Alpe di Siusi, offering spectacular scenery with relatively moderate effort. Named after the renowned South Tyrolean mountaineer and photographer Hans Steger and his wife Paula, the trail follows a stunning route across Europe's largest high-alpine meadow.
Starting on the magnificent Alpe di Siusi, this guided hike in the Dolomites traverses rolling alpine pastures, colorful mountain meadows, and scenic viewpoints with continuous views of some of the region's most famous peaks. Throughout the day, hikers enjoy breathtaking panoramas of the Schlern, Sassolungo, Sasso Piatto, Rosengarten, and the distant Marmolada.
Along the route, there are several traditional alpine huts where hikers can stop for refreshments and enjoy authentic South Tyrolean cuisine. Depending on the chosen variation, the hike may pass huts such as Rifugio Molignon, Rifugio Almrosenhütte, or Rifugio Rauchhütte, all perfectly positioned within the beautiful landscape of the Schlern-Rosengarten Nature Park.
