Colfosco to Rifugio Puez Hike

This moderate guided hike starts in Colfosco, one of the most beautiful mountain villages in Alta Badia, and leads into the impressive landscapes of the Puez-Odle Nature Park. The trail climbs steadily through forests and alpine meadows toward the famous Edelweiss Valley, surrounded by dramatic Dolomite peaks and peaceful mountain scenery.

The first stop of the day is Rifugio Edelweiss, a beautiful mountain hut with panoramic terraces and fantastic views over Alta Badia. It is the perfect place for a relaxed coffee break before continuing higher into the mountains.

From here, the route continues uphill toward Forcella Ciampei, one of the scenic mountain passes connecting the valley with the high alpine plateau of the Puez Group. The landscape becomes increasingly wild and dramatic, with rocky terrain, panoramic ridgelines, and breathtaking views across the surrounding Dolomites.

The trail then reaches Rifugio Puez, one of the most iconic mountain huts in the area, located in the heart of the spectacular Puez-Odle Nature Park. Surrounded by rugged limestone peaks and wide alpine plateaus, the hut offers an unforgettable mountain atmosphere and is the ideal place for lunch before descending.

After the break at Rifugio Puez, the hike returns to Colfosco following the same route back down through the Edelweiss Valley.

For guests looking for a slightly easier option, both the ascent and descent can be shortened by using the lift, reducing part of the elevation gain and making the hike more accessible.
